Creativity and learning
As parents we want our children to grow up to be confident, independent adults who approach new experiences positively
and with enthusiasm.
Little Artists provides an opportunity for children to develop in the following ways:
Builds self esteem and confidence
Encourages independence
Develops imagination
Uses all the senses
Develops hand-eye
co-ordination
Broadens vocabulary
Helps colour
and shape recognition
Develops creative
thinking skills
Aids development
of social skills
Encourages
an awareness of music
Very young children benefit from being given a wide variety
of stimulating experiences to explore. At this age creativity is about the process of exploring and experimenting rather than
the end result. We allow young children to explore activities such as sand, water, playdough, jelly, ice cubes, cooked spaghetti,
cornflour mix - the list is endless, many of which are activities children are unlikely to have the opportunity to explore
in everyday life.
As they get older we provide more structured activities during which children may produce an end result. This could
be puppet making, collage work, card making, box modelling, sculptures, printing, painting - again the list is endless.
We encourage children to talk about and take home their creations where they can be displayed with pride.
At Little Artists we encourage children to choose which activities to take part in, helping them to become confident
in making decisions. We treat each child as an individual and allow them to follow their own interests. If Junior wants to
spend 40 minutes playing in the sand then that’s fine.
